NENA urges support for honoring 911 deadline
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) 2001 deadline for the installation of technologies that will make it possible to locate callers dialing 911 from a wireless phone may be in jeopardy. Reportedly, some industry groups are urging the FCC to significantly delay the implementation of these systems, according to the National Emergency Number Association (NENA).
NENA is requesting that all parties involved in or concerned about public safety write to the Federal Communications Commission in support of NENA`s filed comments to the FCC asking that the 2001 deadline be upheld.
