The North Brunswick (NJ) Volunteer Engine & Truck Company 2 placed in service this third-generation SEAGRAVE platform quint. Chief Donald Salzmann says the platform’s stability with the rescue capabilities of a ladder is important to the department. It is first-due to most of the schools and commercial and high-rise buildings in the township.
Features/Equipment:
• Marauder II chassis with a 246-inch wheelbase and a six-seat cab;
• CUMMINS ISX 12 500-hp diesel engine;
• WATEROUS CMU two-stage 2,250-gpm pump with three crosslays (two 1¾-inch and one 2½-inch);
• UPF 300-gallon water tank;
• Apollo 105-foot rear-mounted platform with a 1,250-pound tip load and a 18¼-foot outrigger spread;
• two TFT Monsoon platform monitors (one electric, one manual) and platform Stokes mounting brackets;
• four wheel well compartments for six spare SCBA cylinders;
• SAFETY VISION camera system; and
• light and power with an ONAN eight-kw PTO hot shift capable generator, two HANNAY electric cord reels, and 10 FRC flood and scene lights (two each telescoping on platform, top side of body, cab side, rear of body, and under platform).

The Waconia (MN) Fire Department uses this LAKE ASSAULT fireboat to respond to water-related emergencies in Lake Waconia. Assistant Chief Brandon Kolesar says the boat can handle waves and rough water and can easily navigate shallow water. With lake activity expected to increase, the danger of boat collisions is a real concern. The design makes for an ultimate platform to secure patients.
