NV Fire Chief Released from Employment

North Las Vegas (NV) Fire Chief Al Gillespie has been “released from employment,” a city official announced Monday.

The firefighters union said it happened after Gillespie refused to implement what he said were dangerous budget cuts to 911 response, according to a KLAS-TV report (http://bit.ly/NyL0j9). However, a prior report from FOX5 indicated that Gillespie had been put on administrative leave earlier because of a firefighter training exercise in January in which four firefighters were burned (READ MORE).

The details of Gillespie’s departure will be confidential.
