Replaceable Battery Flashlight

Crane Manufacturing and Plastics Corp. has developed a replaceable battery flashlight to fit their line of Crane Head-lite bracket styles. This durable and waterproof light is powered by four AA batteries, with no breakable exterior switches. The company’s head lights come in two styles to fit most fire helmets.

Power Group International introduces a fully repairable GE PE series G-4 radio battery with parts available for in-field repair and battery insert replacement. The product is designed to eliminate intermittent electrical contact in GE PE series vehicular chargers and problems with side notch engagement when using mobile chargers.

Monitor Elbow Hydrant

The Waterous monitor elbow hydrant is designed to deliver a large volume of water at effective pressures directly onto a fire The Waterous monitor elbow is compatible with the Pacer hydrant and is built for easy mounting of a monitor nozzle, with one piece casting, smooth passageways and a long radius elbow, allowing for high flow rates either through the hydrant nozzles or the monitor while minimizing friction loss. Any Pacer nozzle configuration can be used with the monitor elbow. The nozzle section with two 2 1/2-inch, bolt-on, flange-mounted hose gate valves, used with the monitor elbow, is UL listed and FM approved.

Non-Breathing Valve

Respironics, Inc. manufactures the VentEasy non-breathing valve to isolate rescuers from patient contamination during mouth-tomask resuscitation. VentEasy diverts thepatients’ exhaled gases away from the rescuer. This large bore valve permits high flow rates without exhaustive rescuer effort and allows small-handed or inexperienced rescuers to deliver large tidal volumes to the patient.

Pry Axe

A lightweight (7 pounds) pry axe, a multipurpose forcible entry and rescue tool designed for prying and twisting, chopping, metal cutting and ramming, has been introduced by Paratech Incorporated. The axe includes a redesigned head which incorporates a tapered pike curved for maximum leverage prying. A spanner wrench built into the axe head fits rocker lug and storz couplings up to four inches. In addition to the standard prying claw, a metal claw is now available from the company. This metal cutting claw, ordered separately, also fits existing pry axes.

Pump Panel Siamese

Thomas Technology introduces an adjustable Siamese fitting which supplies and effectively connects large diameter hose to pumpers using two-2 1/2 inch discharge ports. The 2 1/2-inch arms will adjust from 16 to 21 inches to utilize various discharge port arrangements. The large diameter hose attaches to a quick-disconnect four inch or five inch adapter.

Right-Angle Tank Sensor

MC Products, Inc. manufactures a RightAngle Tank Sensor designed for use with their pumper tank water-level gauges. The sensor is engineered to avoid damage to wiring that sometimes occurs with earlier straight sensor units, and it is easily retrofitted into pumper tanks now using older sensors.

Low Pressure SCBA

The Mark 2 30-minute low pressure SCBA unit with airline attachment is available from Survivair as part of the company’s Mark 2 product line. The unit may be worn as an SCBA or, with the optional airline attachment, as a supplied air respirator. The 23pound low pressure SCBA operates on a maximum pressure of 2,216 psi, eliminating the need for a high pressure air compressor. The fiberglass hoop-wrapped 30-minute cylinder is mounted on an articulated backpack for freedom of movement.

Holding Tanks

KenMar portable holding tanks enable fire departments to provide a water supply of up to 4,000 gallons regardless of location. The portable tanks are carried folded on a tanker and can be set up by two men in seconds. When the KenMar tank is filled, the empty tanker is free to go for a new water supply. The tanks are available in 1,600 and 2,000gallon capacities. When two of the larger tanks are used in conjunction with a special transfer tube and transfer gate, it provides 4,000 gallon capacity.

Cut-off Saw

Shindaiwa, Inc. introduces a portable 35.5cc gasoline-powered cut-off saw. The EC350 reportedly offers 50 percent more power than similar units. The product can be converted for right or left blade mounting,, has a two-stage felt/dry element filter, extra-large fuel capacity, and features a Shindaiwa air-cooled two-cycle engine. Two 9-inch abrasive blades are standard, and, a dry diamond blade is available as an option. Other features include a Walbro WA 115 carburetor, all-transistor electronic ignition and an automatic centrifugal clutch.

Protective Helmets

Wheeler Protective Apparel manufactures a complete line of helmets designed for protection against chemical and heat hazards. The helmet shells are available with a hard cap or ratchet-type headgear and feature replaceable 11 by 7-inch panoramic windows. The replaceable covers have adjustable armstraps.

Chemical protective helmets are covered with mist green PVC or lime green neoprene cloth and include two-ply acid resistant windows. Heat protective helmets feature two-ply heat resistant windows and are covered with aluminized Kevlar, glass, or rayon.

Automatic Battery Charger

The Maintenance Master automatic battery charger, manufactured by Kussmaul Electronics Company, provides close control of the charge in batteries used to start standby power plants and auxiliary generators. Control techniques keep batteries charged without overcharging or trickle charging batteries, prolonging battery life and reliable service. The charger provides up to 5 amperes at 12 volts to charge the battery. Models are available for 6 volt and 24 volt systems.

Available in two-cell models (801 and 8120), three-cell models (301 and 3120), and five-cell models featuring Halogen bulbs (501 and 5120), each style is available for either 12-volt DC or 120-volt AC use.
