>> The Harquahala Fire District in Tonopah, Arizona, specified a large water tank on its ROSENBAUER/CENTRAL pumper because there are few hydrants in its district, says Chief Steve Sandell. The unit has a short wheelbase for freeway calls when working on a median. It is also used for medical calls.

>> The Orono (ME) Fire Department designed its E-ONE quint with a platform for life safety because of the many metal roofs, truss construction, and other hazards in the district, explains Lieutenant Kevin Sirois. It allows firefighters to stay in the platform while ventilating and performing related tasks. As a quint, it is self-supporting without the need for a supply pumper.
