Midlothian (TX) Fire Department Fleet Comprised of All Pierce Dash CFs

Pierce Manufacturing, an Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) company, announced today that a Pierce Dash CF 100-foot aerial platform was purchased by the Midlothian Fire Department in Midlothian, Texas. The new aerial platform will join three Dash CF pumpers already in service, making the Midlothian Fire Department the nation’s first all Dash CF fleet.

“Our department is very thankful that its front line fleet will soon be 100 percent Dash CF apparatus,” said Fire Chief David Schrodt of the Midlothian (TX) Fire Department. “The smooth ride, excellent handling and roomy cab interior are all great features. And we really like that the entire chassis is lower to the ground for easier entry and exit; being lower to the ground positions everything–like crosslays and equipment–within easier reach.”

“The Pierce Dash CF offers an unmatched set of performance advantages, and this is among the reasons we’re seeing progressive departments like Midlothian becoming repeat and loyal Dash CF customers,” said Jim Johnson, Oshkosh Corporation executive vice president and president, Fire & Emergency.

The Dash CF features an innovative tilting cab-forward design that repositions the engine rearward and down between the frame rails, with an open interior configuration to help firefighters better prepare for the unexpected situations they face when arriving on scene. The vehicle dramatically increases driver and officer interior cab space, improves visibility and serviceability, and sets a new benchmark for heavy-duty construction–all in a compact easy to maneuver wheelbase.

“The Dash CF engines have only been in service for a few months, but they’ve already performed under fire, with the first engine successfully responding to two structural fires during its first two days in service,” said Chief Schrodt. “I believe it’s one of the best chassis on the market, and once our firefighters saw them in action, they knew we had a winner. Talk about a morale builder–our team really enjoys working with the Dash CF!”

The Dash CF apparatus is available with either a Detroit Diesel DD13 or Cummins ISL engine, and on a broad range of vehicle configurations–including tandem axle pumpers, aerials, tankers, rescues and command units.
