Pierce Manufacturing, an Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) company, continues to generate orders for its Dash CF custom fire apparatus from across North America. Both municipal and volunteer fire departments from states such as Arizona, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Colorado, Missouri, New York, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Kansas, and Texas have purchased the Dash CF. Most recently, the Wichita, Kansas Fire Department ordered 10 Dash CFs (nine pumpers and one aerial platform), and three Dash CF pumpers were purchased by the Midlothian, Texas Fire Department.

“Our team was impressed with the Dash CF, including its visibility, room inside the cab, and ease of maintenance — those things really make a lot of sense to us,” said Fire Chief Ronald D. Blackwell of the Wichita, Kansas Fire Department. “These 10 new Dash CF vehicles will be replacing Pierce trucks that have served us well over the years. That’s a credit to Pierce. They make quality vehicles that are durable and that have proven to be very reliable.”
“We were able to test drive a Dash CF and we were amazed by how well the vehicle handled, the space inside the cab and the fantastic visibility for the driver and officer,” said Fire Chief David Schrodt, of the Midlothian (TX) Fire Department. “We’re new to Pierce, and about a year ago, I paid a visit to the Appleton factory to educate myself. I was very impressed by what I saw and experienced. Plus, two nearby departments are Pierce customers and they could testify to the excellent performance and service of their trucks.”
The Dash CF features an innovative tilting cab-forward design that repositions the engine rearward and down low between the frame rails, with an open interior configuration to help firefighters better prepare for the unexpected situations they face when arriving on scene. The vehicle dramatically increases driver and officer interior cab space, improves visibility and serviceability, and sets a new benchmark for heavy-duty construction — all in a compact easy to maneuver wheelbase.
The Dash CF apparatus is available with either a Cummins ISL or Detroit Diesel DD13 engine, and on a broad range of vehicle configurations — including tandem axle pumpers, aerials, tankers, rescues and command units.
