Waterous announces portable pump deliveries in Northern Africa

Waterous’ high-powered portable pumps are now suppressing urban and wildland fires in northern Africa. The U.S. manufacturer announced today the delivery of 160 new PB18 Series Portable Pumps for use in firefighting vehicles sold to the Civil Protection of Algeria (CPA), which encompasses numerous fire stations throughout the country.

All fire trucks delivered to Algeria are equipped with Waterous’ PB18-G2015 portable pumps. Designed for wildland/attack fire suppression, the rugged, powerful portable pumps are gear-driven centrifugal pumps powered by a V-twin Briggs and Stratton® 18 hp engine that delivers from 20 GPM @ 320 PSI (80 L/min @ 22 bar) to 75 GPM @ 190 PSI (290 L/min @ 13 bar).

Produced by French manufacturer Camiva, 95 of the 160 vehicles delivered to the CPA will be used to combat forest, rural and wildland fires. The remaining vehicles, manufactured by SIDES, also a French OEM, will be used to fight urban fires.
