OSHKOSH TRUCK CORPORATION of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, has purchased PIERCE MANUFACTURING, INC., of Appleton, Wisconsin, for $158 million. Oshkosh manufactures airport fire apparatus that are distributed worldwide, snow emergency vehicles, and other specialty fire apparatus. Pierce manufactures pumpers, aerial units, and rescue trucks. Pierce will operate under its own name as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oshkosh. As of the year ending October 31, 1995, Pierce had sales of $180 million.
