All firefighters and fire officers face many challenges on a daily basis. One of the most complex is what to drill on, and to ensure that there is purpose to those drills.
Fortunately, one of the tools we use on a daily basis can be a guide and serve as a foundation for building a comprehensive and applicable training plan. The command board, or some variation of it to track resources and coordinate strategy and tactics, provides a template for essential tactics needed for success.
In this drill, we will look at the seven most common tactics employed on the fireground that, if executed correctly and in a coordinated manner, can spell success for us. The attached drill outlines these seven tactics and ideas on how we can build and deliver the drills in the firehouse. To have success, we must identify the keys to our success and then build our sets and reps so it becomes muscle memory.
