A Philadelphia (PA) firefighter is now alert and talking after he was apparently struck by a ladder truck while operating at an apartment fire that left dozens homeless in the city’s Roxborough neighbhorhood. Firefighter George Savoy is in critical but stable condition after officials say they believe he was struck by a fire vehicle as firefighters were setting up at the incident scene. Internal department investigations are under way and police are also looking into the matter.
One person was trapped but rescued during the three-alarm incident. Forty-seven units of the structure were destroyed, according to the owner.
