>> The Randolph (VT) Fire Department designed this KME pumper with many safety features, says Chief Jay Collette. The features include a top-mount pump panel to keep the operator off the street, low-profile speedlays which can be deployed from the ground, and hose trays for safer repacking and sliding into the storage compartment. The rescue-style body keeps the inventory protected from harsh road conditions.

Features/Equipment:

• Predator MFD chassis with 227-inch wheelbase and 10-inch raised-roof cab with six seats;
• NAVISTAR MaxxForce 13 475-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 4000 EVS automatic transmission;
• WATEROUS CS single-stage, 1,250-gpm pump with HYPRO Foam Pro 2002 system (part of a Pneumax 200 Platimum CAFS), six-inch front intake, 1¾-inch front bumper line, three speedlay cartridges (two 1¾ and one 2½-inch), two rear preconnects (one each 1¾- and 2½-inch), and TFT Hurricane monitor;
• UPF 500-gallon water and 50-gallon foam tanks;
• 168-inch Flushback body with 11 wheel well sleeves for both spare SCBA cylinders and hand extinguishers and ROM roll-up compartment doors;
• FEDERAL SIGNAL backup camera;
• ZOLL AED; and
• light and power with HARRISON eight-kw hydraulic, pto generator, three FRC floodlights (one brow and two telescoping midship), and eight WHELEN fixed scene lights (two on cab, six on body).

>> The Glendale (AZ) Fire Department designed this E-ONE platform to meet the different capabilities of a truck company with regard to safety and operational needs, says Deputy Chief Wayne Smith. The department’s high hazards range from a football stadium and mid-rise hotels to foundries and chemical plants.

• Quest chassis with 250-inch wheelbase and six-seat cab;
• CUMMINS ISM 500-hp diesel engine with ALLISON 4000 EVS-P automatic transmission;
• HP 100 platform with 1,000-pound payload and a 305-pound allowance for equipment and 15-foot, six-inch outrigger spread;
• rapelling rope guides and TFT Hurricane electric monitor on platform;
• ROM roll-up compartment doors and eight wheel well sleeves for spare SCBA cylinders;
• 123 feet of ground ladders;
• HOLMATRO extrication tool storage with two reels, all in front bumper;
• PHILLIPS Heart Start AED; and
• light and power with SMART POWER 10-kw hydraulic generator, seven ROM floodlights (four on body, three on platform), and two HANNAY electric cord reels.

>> The North Clay Fire Protection District, Louisville, Illinois, replaced an old tanker with this DANKO tanker which is of similar size. Chief Todd Fender says it is used for water supply rather than initial attack, hence the larger water tank and smaller pump. The department protects 179 square miles of rural area and is part of the county mutual-aid system.
