The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) reviewed and purchased multiple copies of FiRST™ Responder Systems & Technology, LLC’s HAZ-GUIDE™ HAZMAT RESOURCE SOFTWARE and will use it as part of a citywide haz-mat response. HazGuide™ is a fully integrated and searchable software application that cross-references chemical information taken from the NIOSH Pocket Guide, ERG2000 Guide, USFA HazMat Guide, Coast Guard CHRIS Guide, and an MSDS database. It allows responders to search for hazardous materials by chemical name, UN number, CAS number, DOT placard, and NFPA placard. Responders can identify chemical reactions; review NIOSH respirator recommendations; access procedures and recommendations for chemical classes; and determine chemical properties such as IDLH, flash point, boiling point, and lower explosion limits. The new R.A.M.™ RAPID ATTACK MONITOR from Elkhart Brass can be deployed by a single firefighter to quickly establish a 500-gpm stream. In addition, the flow efficient (nine-psi friction loss at 500 gpm) R.A.M. patent pending waterway harnesses nozzle reaction force to increase stability and reduce operator fatigue. Features an ergonomic, locking, and quick-releasing U-handle and a four-point, forged aluminum suspension that is ultra compact while stowed but provides the largest footprint in its class when extended. Coupled standard with a low bulk, Rapid Attack Nozzle (R.A.N.™), the standard R.A.M./R.A.N. package is flow rated for 500 gpm at 75 psi; 400 gpm at 50 psi. Fully compatible with other combination, smooth bore, and foam nozzles. (800) 346-0250. Web site: www.elkhartbrass.com.

MSA Instrument Division introduces the SIRIUS MULTIGAS DETECTOR, part of its StellarTSeries Portable Instrument product line. Features a PID in a multigas unit so users can monitor for hundreds of potentially dangerous vapors and chemicals; Simultaneously monitors for volatile organic compounds and combustible, toxic, and oxygen-deficient atmospheres. Proprietary patent-pending PID sensor design is integrated into multigas detector design (as featured in the MSA OrionT and Solaris™ Detectors). Loud, attention-grabbing alarm system warns users of a hazardous situation. TIMT Total Instrument Manager System increases user safety by easily ensuring proper sensor performance. (800) MSA-2222. Haynes LUBRI-FILM LUBRICANT is a heavy duty sanitary lubricant with high load-bearing and low friction properties. A thin film retains effectiveness on bearings, slides, and other lubricated surfaces despite moisture. Resists separation and bleed to minimize metal corrosion. New FDA regulations have forced the fire service industry to consider all sources and materials to help reduce the possibility of water supply contamination when lubricating fire hydrants and other water supply apparatus. Other fire service applications include pumps, valves, O-rings, gaskets, and stainless-steel threads. Available in four-ounce tubes, 11.25-ounce sprays, 12-ounce cartridges, 25-pound pails, and 100- and 400-pound drums. Web site: www.haynesmfg.com. (800) 922-2166.
