Scholarship Started to Honor Fallen South Carolina Firefighter

He may be gone, but his memory will live on thanks to the kindness of strangers. Earlier this month, Belvedere volunteer firefighter Noah Creech died after a dirt bike accident.

It’s been a tough few weeks for friends, family, and colleagues as they said goodbye.

“It’s still hard, every time we see his name on the wall or his gear,” said Chief Chad Hyler with the Belvedere Fire Department.

Noah’s mom asked for donations to the Belvedere Fire Department, where Noah was a volunteer, in lieu of flowers.

“We just thought, we don’t want any percentage of the money to come to us. What better way would it be to honor Noah’s name than to actually make a fund in his honor,” said Chief Hyler.

The department decided to do what they thought Noah would have wanted. They’re spending the money on a scholarship to train other firefighters.
