The management team of E-ONE and the private equity firm AMERICAN INDUSTRIAL PARTNERS (AIP)have agreed to purchase the apparatus manufacturer from its parent company, Federal Signal Corporation. As a result of the purchase, E-ONE will become a privately held company backed by AIP. The E-ONE management team and AIP will be significant shareholders in the company. E-ONE will continue to be the exclusive supplier of Bronto articulating aerial platforms for the North American fire rescue market and will integrate Federal Signal public safety interoperable software into its Comm-ONE and larger command vehicles.

E-ONE dealer Heritage Fire Equipment, Inc., sold four 2008 E-ONE commercial rescue pumpers for just over $1 million to the Wilson County (TN) Emergency Management Agency (WEMA). The purchase fills out WEMA’s 15-truck pumper and tanker fleet, now consisting exclusively of E-ONE apparatus. The new pumpers feature a four-door International chassis and are equipped with a 330-hp International diesel engine; an Allison EVS 3000 transmission; a side-mounted Hale Q-Flo 1,250-gpm pump; a Zico overhead ladder rack; Federal Signal LED emergency lighting; and a 1,280-gallon poly tank. www.e-one.com.

PYROLANCE raised $15,000 for the Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI) and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation at the national CFSI dinner held in April. The company sponsored painter Michael Israel, who painted his “Hero” painting, which was then auctioned off. The CFSI donated the proceeds to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, which assists the survivors of firefighters who die in the line of duty. The CFSI is a nonprofit, nonpartisan policy institute on Capitol Hill that educates Congress about the needs of the fire and emergency services. www.pyrolance.com.

The CENTER FOR DOMESTIC PREPAREDNESS (CDP) recently celebrated its 10th anniversary at an event that included federal, state, and local officials. At the celebration, more than 50 responder students representing the United States and its territories were introduced. Created to prepare state and local emergency responders from acts of terrorism involving weapons of mass destruction (WMD), the CDP has become a premier federal training facility. A component of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Preparedness Directorate in the Department of Homeland Security, it is the nation’s only federally chartered WMD training facility for civilian emergency responders. http://cdp.dhs.gov.

CHAMPION RESCUE TOOLS named Carl Haddon its extrication training director and Alan Kahn its vice president of manufacturing. Haddon is a fire service captain and major speedway race control and fire/safety director who has supervised and participated in many vehicle accident extrications. While working for Penske Motorsports, he created, implemented, and managed race control and fire/safety operations for several major speedways in the United States and Australia. Kahn was founder and CEO of Bowne Business Communications, directing all operating divisions. He built infrastructure, streamlined manufacturing, and reduced costs, consolidating several businesses. FIRE FACILITIES has promoted Bill Milhbauerinto the engineering department as a technician. He will be responsible for drawing, designing, and specification writing for the company’s fire training towers. He joined the company five years ago, employed in the manufacturing department.
