  1. Radio Communications—Motorola has a series of five publications which are of interest to the fire service. These brochures cover portable communications, vehicular communications, visual communications syst. paging communications and emergency communications. The brochures are profusely illustrated and describe in detail the various models and their applications.
  2. Transformers/Rectifiers—An illustrated, eight-page brochure describing applications for its 5114T and 5116T transformer/rectifiers is now available from the Leece-Neville Division of Sheller-Globe Corporation. The publication contains photographs, schematic drawings and wiring diagrams to assist the specifier in the selection of Leece-Neville transformer/rectifiers with the company’s 2500 JB Series alternator package; for mounting the units on 2500 JB Series alternators; for mounting the units on existing 3425J Detroit Diesel flange-mounted alternators; and for remote mounting of the units. The publication, Form 4124, also includes information on the company’s 2-4 volt starters and application data for Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel and Mack engines.
  3. Dry Chemical System—A dry chemical system, designed to knock down fires in heavy industrial, petroleum and petrochemical operations is described in a six-page, four-color brochure from Chemetron Fire Systems Division. The Fire Boss dry chemical system uses dry nitrogen in pressurized cylinders as a propellant for the chemical agents. The system is available skid mounted (hose hand line), trailer mounted, remote hose station, turrets (close coupled or remote) and fixed nozzle with automatic detection system to actuate the system.
  4. Aqueous Film-Forming Foam—A new grade of Light Water ATC (alcohol type concentrate) is described in a 20-page, color brochure from 3M, Fire Protection Systems. As the latest generation of AFFF, Light Water ATC is a synthetic foam-forming liquid designed for protection of water-soluble polar solvents and water-insoluble hydrocarbon flammable liquids. It is listed by Underwriters Laboratories as 3 percent AFFF for hydrocarbons such as gasoline and a 6 percent ATC for polar solvents.
  5. Municipal Fire Hose—A 12-page catalog of municipal fire hose has been published by National Fire Hose Corporation. Feature products include National’s N-Dura and Dura-Cron double jacket constructions in 1V4 to 4-inch sizes, with test pressures of 500 and 800 psi. The new lightweight large-diameter Triple-Duty double jacket hose is now offered in 4, 4Vt and 5-inch sizes. The catalog also describes National’s complete line of double jacket cotton-polyester hose; soft, hard and corrugated suction hose; medium and highpressure booster hose; and a wide selection of lightweight expansion ring couplings. All hose dimensions, weights, and pressures are given in both conventional and metric units.
  6. Reconditioned Two-Way Radios—A Two-Way Radio Equipment Catalog (1980) from Mobile Technical Service Corp. features reconditioned Motorola, RCA and General Electric two-way radio equipment, including base stations, mobile units, portable radios and a variety of accessories. All equipment meets the FCC type acceptance with a new equipment warranty.
  7. Halon 1211—BCF Halon 1211 fire fighting agent used in portable extinguishers is described in a four-color brochure from ICI Americas Inc. The brochure describes BCF Halon 1211 as a multipurpose extinguishant which does not cause any agent damage to computers and other high-value electrical and electronic equipment. BCF Halon 1211 is suitable for Class A, B and C fires. Unlike dry chemicals, it evaporates quickly, leaving no residue.
  8. Safety Equipment—Equipment for the safe handling, storage and disposal of flammable liquids is the subject of a 16-page bulletin from the Justrite Manufacturing Company. The brochure describes and pictures drum transfer pumps, drum cradles, safety cans, safety vents, wires and faucets along with storage cabinets and waste disposal equipment. Complete specifications are also included.
  9. Stick-on Letters—A data sheet is available from Micalite describing its stick-on letters, numbers, arrows, etc. These are available in Scotchlite (in black, white, red, green, yellow, blue, gold, or orange); in Scotchcal (in black, white, red, orange, green, yellow, blue, antique gold, or brown); in Day-Glow (in red, orange, or chartreuse) or in vinal (black or white).* Custom type faces include Helvetica medium, Brush, Lydian bold, Cheltenham Roman, Futura bold, Bodoni bold, Engravers Old English and Franklin Gothic.
  10. Oxygen and Resuscitation Products—Mada Medical Products has now available two new product catalogs. One entitled “Oxygen Product Catalog”describes the main line of products and the other, “Emergency Oxygen & Resuscitation Products,” emergency products.
  11. Badges—Everson Ross has just issued a new catalog, No. 180, describing its line of fire, police, security and transportation badges. Included in addition to the badges are uniform accessories, emblems, collar and lapel accessories, badge cases, miniature badges, plaques and bronze car plaques. A current price list is also available.
  12. Electronic Signaling Equipment—Descriptive literature from Reach Electronics describes its electronic signaling equipment, including mobile encoders and decoders, single sideband products, the Datus 1 terminal, Interlink automatic terminals, the Status Seeker and the Oracle pager.
  13. Batteries—Transceiver and pager batteries for Motorola, General Electric, Repco, Harris, E. F. Johnson, RCA, Plectron, Federal, Sonar. Aerotron and other radio systems are described in a four-page folder from Multiplier Industries Corp. The folder also has a cross reference to the batteries of other companies.
