TRAINING AIDS
A fire pump simulator, available from Fire Research Corp., is a training system that can recreate in the classroom almost any field operation performed by a pump operator. The pump operations, which can be carried out in full view of the class, illustrate the reaction of the pump as nozzles are opened and closed by the instructor.
The student operates the portion of the simulator that contains all the working hardware on a standard pumper. The instructor operates the portion of the simulator that contains the equipment to change the type of hose, as well as its length and nozzle size. The instructor also has controls that vary the operating conditions while the student is working the pump controls.
