Key in Knob Through-the-Lock

By Kyle Stephens

This drill focuses on a particular skill that involves gaining entry into an area by attacking the locking mechanism directly. Pulling cylinders and activating the internal locking mechanism with a modified key tool/pliers mimics the action of the key itself. Key-in-knob locks are extremely popular and are seen in a variety of different application of doors.

This forced entry option can be used in many different situations, but mainly through-the-lock skills are usually performed when time is not critical to gain entry. The step-by-step procedures for this skill are outlined in this drill.
