A strip mall in Weston (WI) was destroyed by fire, reports the Wausau Daily Herald. No one was injured.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, the fire was in the middle bay area of the building, and flames were coming out of the roof in three or four different areas.
Immediate efforts to quell the flames weren’t successful. The building was made of metal and wood and those materials can be difficult to douse. An hour after firefighters arrived, flames were leaping from the roof, the walls of the building were collapsing and black smoke was billowing into the sky.
Eventually, three high ladder trucks were pouring water onto the fire from above, and firefighters were manning several hoses on the ground.
