October 7-9—Ansul Fire Protection will hold SPILL CONTROL TRAINING SESSIONS at its fire technology center in Marinette, Wise. The purpose of the sessions is to teach students how to identify hazardous materials and initiate the proper response. Hands-on training is emphasized in the application of spill control agents on acid, caustic, and solvent spills. October 15-16—The 25th annual GREATER CINCINNATI REGIONAL ARSON AND FIRE INVESTIGATORS SEMINAR will be held at the Evendale Community Center in Evendale, Ohio. Classroom topics will include fire science photography, search and seizure, court procedures from arrest to conviction, psychology of a firesetter, and stress management. October 17-19—-The Colorado Fire Fighters Academy will host the first annual COLORADO SYMPOSIUM ON FIREFIGHTING at the Tamarron Resort in Durango, Colo. The three-day symposium will feature more than 60 classes for firefighters and fire administrators. There will be small group discussions, large group lectures, and hands-on activities. October 19-23—A five-day course on THE MEDICAL MANAGEMENT OF HAZARDOUS-MATERIALS INCIDENTS will be offered by the George Washington University EMS Degree Program. The course is intended for prehospital-care providers and emergency response personnel and includes lecture and lab sessions. Topics to be covered include introduction to haz-mats problems, initial response/arrivals, and assessment of haz-mats patients. The course will be held in Ross Hall at George Washington University.
