IL Fire Photographer Releases Book Featuring More Than 50 Fire Departments

Northern Illinois Fire Ground Photography by Tim Olk, fire photographer and frequent Fire Engineering contributor, features hundreds of photos in a hardbound coffee table-style book. Olk captures the lives of men and women in the fire service from over 50 areas and departments. This all-color book features photos of fire scenes and rescues, academy graduations, training, dive calls, department events, holidays, group shots, and more.

The book is a large 9″ x 12″ format with 120 color pages and is scheduled for release late summer. A reduced price of $37.50 is offered on pre-order basis through May 31. Any books ordered after the deadline will be at $42.50.

Call the publisher at 1-888-263-4702 or visit www.mtpublishing.com for more information.

Tim Olk took his first fire scene photos when he was 13 years old. He brought the pictures into the station and met Assistant Chief/Fire Investigator Wayne Luecht. He took photography classes and learned how to shoot fire scenes from Luecht. Eventually, Tim became a paid on-call firefighter as well as certified in advanced fire scene photography by the Fire Investigators Strike Force. Tim is now the Midwest US Region Director for the International Fire Photographers Association. He has had many photos featured in Fire Engineering and other industry magazines. In 1999, Tim lost his mentor and friend when Wayne Luecht died of injuries sustained on duty. Tim is still traveling all over the greater Chicago area, capturing scenes like the many shared in this book.
