Firefighter Killed, Another Injured in OR Wildfire

A firefighter was killed Thursday and another was injured in a wildland fire in Deschutes National Forest near Sisters, Oregon.

The wildfire was started by lightning, according to a report from The Oregonian (http://bit.ly/19Ad4CU).

The two contract firefighters were hit by a snag as part of an initial attack on a fire and became trapped. The pair were part of a so-called falling crew, hired to take down hazardous trees.

Their identities were not released and no details about their injuries were immediately available.
