One firefighter sustained a shoulder injury from what appeared to be a beam that fell on him while battling a dwelling fire in Bogota, New Jersey, on the afternoon of December 10, 2013.
First-arriving firefighters encountered flames completely covering the front of a 2 1/2-story wood-frame dwelling on Linwood Avenue. A second-alarm was struck on arrival, invoking mutual aid from Hackensack, Teaneck, and Ridgefield Park to the scene.
The heavy exterior fire was knocked down; however, flames extended to the second-floor and attic, causing substantial damage to the house. No one was home at the time of the fire and a near by house suffered siding damage only.
The injured firefighter was treated at the scene by EMS and required no hospital attention, according to Chief Dan Klima.
