Bruce McClymont says the unit has a greater reach than the previous unit with better accessibility to newer complex structures and maintaining of pump capacity (if another engine goes out of service). It is also more compact, with a single axle for rural driveway accessibility.

The Badin Lake Fire Department, New London, North Carolina, uses this EVI medium size rescue truck for rescue calls and as an equipment carrier for fireground support, says Assistant Chief Ronnie Metcalf. The unit replaced an older truck with a walk-in body, but the department specified a nonwalk-in body on the new truck to gain more storage space.
