Safety equipment should be used

I have bitten my tongue as long as I can. I was angered and appalled as I viewed supposedly professional career firefighters escaping from a burning structure on the February cover.
Where are their masks and helmets? I would be truly embarrassed if the men in that picture were members of my fire department. Not only are antics like this of the type that attract OR-OSHA (here in Oregon my department could be fined because of that photo alone), they are stupid and more dangerous than the fire those individuals were apparently playing with.
We keep being required to purchase and use more and more safety equipment at the expense of our citizens. Don`t you think we just might reduce the death and injury rate each year if we simply use the equipment we have?
