On Tuesday, June 11, Miami-Dade (FL) Fire Rescue firefighters responded to a rescue situation involving a puppy trapped in a chair.
The puppy had its head stuck in the scissor mechanism of a recliner, according to Captain Bill Gustin.
Firefighters used a reciprocating saw to cut part of the mechanism to free the dog. While one firefighter operated the saw, another kept his hands on the puppy and the part being cut to judge the level of heat developed by friction of the saw blade.
At one point, crews had to stop cutting and allow the steel to cool so it would not burn the puppy, but the dog was ultimately safely removed from the mechanism.
