The New FLIR PathFindIR II Night Vision Camera

The PathfinderIR II is a powerful thermal night vision system that sees heat, not light, allowing first responders to see potential hazards up to four times further away than with a vehicle’s headlights alone. The PathfinderIR II is a powerful thermal night vision system that sees heat, not light. The camera makes driving at high speeds through rural and poorly lit areas safer, by increasing visibility and reaction time to potentially dangerous situations that could interfere with the emergency at hand. The camera’s detection feature can be configured to automatically to alert drivers when the system detects anything nearing the vehicle’s path.

Benefits of PathFindIR II include:

  • See in total darkness
  • Automatic detection and alerts of Pedestrians and Animals
  • See pedestrians and vehicles past the glare of oncoming headlights
  • See many hazards over four times farther away than with headlights
  • See through dust and smoke
  • Help avoiding accidents and staying safe

See Ahead, Think Ahead, and React In Time

Using FLIR’s latest nighttime video analytics algorithms, PathFindIR II provides automated detection and alerts of pedestrians and animals, so drivers can see hazards sooner, react faster, and stay safer on the road at night.   PathFindIR II’s thermal night vision lets drivers see pedestrians, cyclists, animals, and other road hazards at night from up to four times farther away than with just the vehicle’s headlights.

Building on the success of the original PathFindIR, and made in cooperation with technology partner Autoliv, the PathFindIR II adds a unique nighttime pedestrian detection feature that can be configured to automatically display alarms that alert drivers when the system detects a person nearing or crossing the vehicle’s path.

In addition to passenger vehicles, PathFindIR II installs easily in a wide variety of cars, trucks, and industrial vehicles including:

  • First Responders – Installing PathFindIR II in police, fire, and other first responder vehicles gives those operators the power to see through smoke, find victims and suspects at night, and guide hoses onto fires in all conditions.
  • Mining – PathFindIR II sees through dark and dust so haul trucks and shovel and scoop vehicles can operate safely and efficiently without endangering people walking near mining vehicles.

“As the World’s Sixth Sense, FLIR can help make driving safer and more enjoyable no matter what you drive,” said Andrew Teich, CEO of FLIR. “With innovative technologies and improved image quality at an affordable price, PathFindIR II can give every driver expanded awareness of what’s going on around them.”

Featured on select models of Mercedes, Audi, and BMW automobiles, FLIR’s thermal night vision technology has made thousands of drivers safer all around the world.
