July 19-21-A PROPANE GAS SAFETY AND SERVICE SCHOOL will feature firefighting techniques demonstrated by the Iowa State University’s Fire Service Institute and the Ames Fire Department. The school, sponsored by the National and Iowa Propane Gas associations, will include discussions on weights and measures, motor vehicle enforcement, grain dryers, and highefficiency furnaces. August 13 —First Responders, Inc. will conduct a HAZARDOUS MATERIALS SEMINAR at the Montgomery County Fire Academy in Conshohocken, Pa. August 27—A FIREFIGHTER SAFETY AND SURVIVAL SEMINAR in Chesterfield, Va. will be conducted by Chief Alan V. Brunacini. August 27-31-The INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIRE CHIEFS will feature the latest in fire and rescue technology at “IAFC 88: The Future is Today.” The conference will have 400 exhibitors and three days of educational sessions. Sessions will address the Indianapolis Ramada Inn plane crash, management techniques, and new trends in the fire service. The conference will also include business sessions, sunrise seminars, a spouse/ guest program, election of IAFC officers, and tours of the nation’s capitol. September 9-11-A CRITICAL INCIDENT STRESS DEBRIEFING TEAM conference in Richmond, Va. includes training sessions for both new and present team members. The team training program will be presented by Jeffrey T. Mitchell on Friday and Saturday; a continuing education program will be held on Saturday and Sunday. A Sunday session on communication skills is open to both newly trained team members and those participating in the continuing education program. September 12-15-The WASHINGTON STATE ASSOCIATION OF FIRE CHIEFS-Apparatus and Equipment Division will hold its annual workshop at Central Washington University in Eliensburg. There’ll be classes on beginning computer usage, diesel and gas engine maintenance, transmission repair, aerial ladder testing, and basic hydraulics.
