Masks Ruled Unsafe
Due to filter system problems, the United States Fire Administration has issued a warning to state and local governments not to use masks distributed 10 years ago by the Department of Defense for biological/ chemical incidents. They are beyond their expected useful life.
The masks—CDV-800, CDV-805, and XM-28E4—are considered unsafe because either replacement filters ere not available or the built-in filters can not be replaced.
