Beachwood (OH) Fire Rescue Receives First E-ONE

Beachwood (OH) Fire Rescue completed a flawless final inspection on their new HP 78 after placing an emergency apparatus order, making the new aerial unit the department’s first E-ONE.

“The truck far exceeded my expectations at the final inspection, and it looks very nice,” Beachwood Fire Rescue Chief Patrick Kearns said. “This truck will actually be the front line unit at one of our stations, so we had to have a multi-purpose work horse and this truck is a perfect fit.”

After an older truck had some irreparable issues, Beachwood Fire Rescue reached out to several manufacturers for information on a new unit. Randy Powell with Advantech Service and Parts, E-ONE’s dealer for eastern Ohio, western Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, quickly responded to the Chief’s questions and requests.

“Randy showed up at our department the next day with a truck for us to demo,” Chief Kearns said. “Advantech and Randy have been great, very easy people to work with, their words are ‘I’ll take care of it’ and it happens.”

Once it became evident the HP 78 was the right fit for Beachwood, Chief Kearns and a couple other department members visited the E-ONE campus.

“When we came for the pre-build, everyone we needed to speak with was at our finger tips and made the changes we needed immediately,” Chief Kearns said. “No one said ‘we can’t do that,’ everyone said ‘we will do that.’ As of right now, we would definitely buy another E-ONE, this process has been painless.”

Beachwood Fire Rescue’s new HP 78 features E-ONE’s exclusive ToughTruss extruded aluminum ladder which exceeds NFPA’s 1901 requirements with a 2.5 to 1 structural safety factor. The HP 78 is designed with generous compartment space, ground ladder storage, hosebed and tank size to out maneuver and out reach the competition.
