Firefighters were forced to go defensive while battling a fire that went to two alarms early today in Newark, New Jersey.
According to WABC, the fire began on Sussex Avenue just before 5:30 a.m. and quickly spread to all floors. No injuries were reported, however flames could be seen shooting from the windows of the structure.
“The fire got in the walls of the interior of the structure and quickly extended to the common area and the roof level and quickly spread through the entire building,” Newark Chief Rufus Jackson told reporters.
On Thursday evening, firefighters battled a raging fire in a five-story apartment building in Fort Lee, New Jersey, in which firefighters rescued residents by way of fire escapes.
