Millburn (NJ) Fire Department Participates in 2018 Firefighter Safety Stand Down Week

The week of June 17-23, 2018, the Millburn (NJ) Fire Department participated in the 2018 Firefighter Safety Stand Down Week.

During the week, each shift of the Millburn Fire Department participated in a lecture and discussion about firefighter safety, line-of-duty deaths, near misses, and medical issues that affect firefighters, such as heart disease, cancer, PTSD, and more.

On Friday June 22, 2018 the Millburn Fire Department teamed up with Saint Barnabas Hospital of Livingston, New Jersey. The team from St. Barnabas came to Millburn Fire Headquarters to offer medical screenings such as blood pressures, skin cancer screenings, lung function testing, and many more. The medical screenings were offered to on- and off-duty personnel of the Millburn Fire Department as well as on- and off-duty members of surrounding fire departments. Members from St. Barnabas were also there to answer firefighter’s questions about health topics and nutrition.
