November 16-18 —Health and safety issues will be highlighted at this year’s ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF BUILDING SCIENCES. Asbestos, lead-based paint, radon, formaldehyde, and PCBs are some of the topics that will be addressed at the conference, which will be held in Washington, D.C. November 30-December 1 A seminar on INSPECTION AND TESTING OF UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANKS win be conducted by Keyworth Safety Consultants, Ltd. in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. The two-day seminar, designed for fire and building inspectors, will address underground storage tank management, installation of steel tanks and fiberglass reinforced plastic tanks, and secondary containment systems. January 9-10, 1989 – A seminar on STEEL CONSTRUCTION, CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION, and HIGH RISE BUILDINGS win be taught by Frank Brannigan in Orlando, Florida. The author of Building Construction for the Fire Service will discuss the defects of each type of construction, which can cost firefighters’ lives.
