The Mobile, AL, Fire Department has accepted delivery of the first Ward 79 Limited Fire-Max model custom fire body on a Mack CF chassis.

The Fire-Max custom fire body is constructed of 12-gauge galvanneal construction and has over 105.6 cubic feet of enclosed compartment storage space. Other features include a 500-gallon stainless steel water tank, stainless steel pump panels, high-side compartments left-hand side, electric booster reel, night-fighter telescoping floodlights, extended pumper with hose tray, and a 5-inch front suction inlet. The Mack fire chassis is powered by a Mack 285-hp diesel engine (EM6285), Allison automatic transmission (HT740D), 13,500-pound front and 23,000-pound rear axles, 130-amp alternator, and 12 X 22.5-14 ply radial tires.

The city of Laconia, NH, recently placed in service a pumper by Ranger, a division of American Modular Corporation. The unit is mounted on a Duplex D-300 chassis and is the first apparatus built with the new Ranger RC-3 Brigadier all-aluminum cab. The body and 1,000-gallon water tank are also aluminum.

The pumper has a Detroit diesel 6V92TA engine and Allison HT 740 automatic transmission. It has a Hale 1,250-gpm single-stage pump with full 6-inch gated front suction and extended bumper to carry 15 feet of 5-inch soft suction hose. The pump is piped to feed a 4-inch outlet plus five 2 1/2-inch outlets.

The pumper carries only 2-inch and 4-inch hose. Over the water tank is 1,200 feet of 4-inch hose. The two reels mounted behind the top mount control panel carry 500 feet each of 2-inch hose, and two preconnects at the rear carry 200 feet each. The Hannay reels are of the double reduction drive type with clutches, and each has a Task Force Tip nozzle with the hose.

The town of Selma, NC, recently took delivery of its EEI Super Pumper, custom manufactured by Emergency Equipment, Inc., Raleigh, NC. The truck, built according to North Carolina League of Municipalities specifications, includes a Hale Q150 1,500-gpm pump, 750-gallon tank, twin booster reels mounted in rear compartments, top-mount control panel, rear canopy, crosslay, and telescoping lights powered by a Hale 5,000-watt generator. Chassis is a Duplex D-350.
