The Alhambra (Calif.) Fire Department’s new 95-foot Mack Aerialseope, with a 128-inch overall height, was the only platform considered for purchase that could fit in one of its stations with low overhead clearance.

The unit is built on a Mack CF600 chassis with a body by Baker; it has a Mack EM6-237 engine and an Allison HT-740 automatic transmission. The boom has a 750-pound payload capacity and is equipped at the bucket with an Akronmatic 1,000-gpm nozzle. Breathing air for four persons is supplied to the platform through a cylinder carried on the boom.

The Canton Township (Ohio) Fire Department covers a heavily industrial area and anticipates the construction of high-rise residential buildings. Recently, it received a Pierce 105-foot tower ladder, which replaced a 30-year-old, 55-foot ladder truck.

The unit has a Pierce Arrow four-door custom cab and chassis that’s powered by a Detroit diesel 475 horsepower engine. It has a 1,500-gpm pump and a 200-gal. booster tank. The waterway is prepiped to twin 1,000-gpm turrets mounted on the front of the platform. The unit carries 1,000 feet of 4″ hose and 500 feet of 2 1/2″ supply line. An Onan 6,000-watt generator powers two 1,500-watt Churchville Telelites and six 500-watt Telelites.

The department consists of 100 volunteers and operates out of five stations.

Firefighter safety and NFPA 1500 are a concern of the Chcrryville (N.C.) Fire Department, which is why it chose a pumper with a fully enclosed cab. Hie all-aluminum cab can hold up to eight firefighters.

Ifiis replacement pumper for the combination department, an Emergency One, carries 750 gallons of water and has a Hale 1500gpm pump. It has two telescoping Quartz lights, strobe emergency lighting, and a 5,500 watt electric generator. Another feature is the unit’s left high-side compartment, which has self-lowering air pack brackets.

Due to limited manpower during the daytime, the Glendale Hose Company in Scott Township. Pa. needed one truck able to be operated by a few firefighters.

The department’s solution is this Ranger Rescue pumper, built on a Mack MC chassis, that was put into service in March. It features a 1,500-gpm Hale pump; a 500-gal. water tank; an all-aluminum body; and Whelen emergency lights. The side compartments arc 70″ high for storage of a Holmatro rescue system, a Maxiforce airbag system, and a three-bottle cascade system with a two-bottle fill station. A 40gal. foam tank with eductor is built into the apparatus, along with a 6.5 kilowatt generator. Four telescopic, 500-watt lights are on tripods that can be taken down from the truck.
