The Lenox (MA) Fire Department designed this W.S. DARLEY quint with a single rear axle and low overall height because of space restrictions at the station. The shorter ladder also reduced the front overhang, according to Deputy Chief Bill Colvin. The 21-square-mile suburban tourist community of 5,600 has more than twice that population in the summer. Numerous mansions, motels, and schools warrant a ladder truck, which also has pumper capability.
