Thomas Fields has been appointed Chief of the Sarasota (Fla.) Department of Fire-Rescue. He’s been a member of the department since November 1966.

While progressing through the ranks, Fields was in charge of the department’s training and rescue divisions and was a shift commander. He served as assistant chief of emergency services (suppression and EMS) and as assistant chief of technical services (which included the training division, communications, service and supply, and special projects).
