NFPA Announces National Anthem Singer Contest for 2015 Conference & Expo

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is holding its second annual online contest to select a singer of the National Anthem at this year’s General Session of the NFPA Conference & Expo in Chicago on Monday, June 22, 2015. Solo performers or established groups of up to five singers must submit their audition video through the NFPA websitewww.nfpa.org/anthem or NFPA Facebook page by March 29Finalists will be selected by a panel of judges and their videos will be posted online for public voting between April 1 and April 20, 2015.

The contest winner(s) will receive a roundtrip flight to Chicago, one-night hotel accommodations and full conference registration to the NFPA Conference & Expo, where they will perform the national anthem in front of over 3,000 attendees. The winner(s) will be announced on April 27. “The national anthem singer contest went over so well last year; attendees really enjoyed our winner’s rendition of the National Anthem during General Session. We’re holding the contest again this year to continue to add that fun and interactive element to Conference & Expo which everyone can enjoy, while providing an opportunity for our attendees to show their patriotism,” said Linda Bailey, division manager of Conferences & Meetings at NFPA.
