Heavy-duty Firemaax Delivers Stability

Hendrickson is a leader in the truck and trailer suspension industry, including specialty markets such as fire and rescue. Hendrickson has proved itself a pioneer in the industry, creating revolutionary suspensions such as RT™, a spring-over-walking beam system known for its durability and traction, and HN®, a walking beam suspension that uses variable-rate rubber load cushions to enhance stability and ride.

Building on this spirit of innovation and excellence, Hendrickson recently introduced FIREMAAX™ heavy-duty, rear air suspension, designed for the rigorous demands of the fire and rescue industry. Combining a robust design with performance enhancing features, the lightweight FIREMAAX delivers numerous benefits previously unavailable in any one emergency vehicle air suspension system. With the introduction of FIREMAAX, Hendrickson brings superb ride, stability and handling to fire and rescue vehicles that demand high-capacity suspensions.

FIREMAAX features parallelogram suspension geometry that reduces roll-steer. This reduction offers the driver greater control during lane changes, highway ramp operation and tight road maneuvers. The unique suspension geometry of FIREMAAX also produces enhanced stability.

Heavy-duty forged support beams, outboard mounted premium torque rods and a highly engineered cross brace combine to deliver up to twice the roll stiffness of other air-ride suspensions. This greater roll stability results in improved vehicle performance during the challenging, evasive maneuvers experienced when rushing to the scene of a fire.

Ride is a measure of how road shock affects the vehicle and driver as the vehicle encounters bumps, potholes and other road irregularities. Because of its inherent design, FIREMAAX provides outstanding ride quality for superior driver and passenger comfort, while helping protect critical equipment and electronics from excessive vibration. In addition, FIREMAAX provides weight savings of up to 200 pounds compared to traditional air-ride suspensions.

FIREMAAX delivers numerous maintenance features such as the unique QUIK-ALIGN® system that simplifies axle alignment without welding or drop-in shims, as well as air springs and premium shock absorbers that package within the tire envelope for additional component protection.

Hendrickson’s premium torque rods employ bonded rubber bushings for longer service life and elimination of lubrication requirement, while the outboard mounted longitudinal rods improve serviceability.

FIREMAAX is available at 24,000- and 27,000-pound single-axle weight ratings and 48,000- and 54,000-pound tandem weight ratings. For more information on FIREMAAX, contact Hendrickson Truck Suspension Systems, Woodridge, Ill., at 630-910-2800, or visit www.hendrickson-intl.com.
