Whether dealing with aggressive dogs while trying to operate at emergency scenes or trying to rescue trapped pets, firefighters are likely to encounter animals while performing their duties. In this week’s Humpday Hangout, Bill Gustin, Mike Dugan, and company will talk about dealing with animals on scene. They will touch on prefire planning about security dogs, facing junkyard dogs at fires in scrapyards, searching for pets on the fireground, and more. They’ll also touch on issues such as controlling horses and livestock at barn and stable fires and responding to calls involving Africanized bees. Members of the panel will recount their most memorable animal encounter and their departmental policy concerning handling animals.
