Tax-Exempt VFD Loans

Tax-exempt status is now available for loans to volunteer fire departments issued after December 1980.

This is provided in Section 103i of the IRS Code, and is a result of Public Daw 97-34, Title VIII, subtitle B section 812 of the Economic Recovery Act of 1981. The tax-exempt loan status was supported by the National Volunteer Fire Council.
