The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is in need of members to serve in various capacities on the following committees; the capacities in which members are needed are indicated in parentheses.

Committee on Aerosol Products: NFPA 30B, Code for the Manufacture and Storage of Aerosol Products (Enforcer, Installer/Maintainer, Labor, Research/Testing, Consumer).

Committee on Classification and Properties of Hazardous Chemicals: NFPA 49, Hazardous Chemicals Data; NFPA 325, Guide to Fire Hazard Properties of Flammable Liquids, Gases, and Volatile Solids; NFPA 491M, Manual of Hazardous Chemical Reactions; and NFPA 704, Standard System for the Identification of the Hazards of Materials for Emergency Response (fire service).

Committee on Electrical Safety Requirements for Employee Workplaces: NFPA 70E, Standard for Electrical Safety Requirements for Employee Workplaces (all categories except Special Expert and User).

Committee on Exposure Protection: NFPA 80A, Recommended Practice for Protection of Buildings from Exterior Fire Exposures (all categories except Special Expert and Manufacturer).

Committee on Fire Service Occupational Medical and Health: NFPA 1581, Standard on Fire Department Infection Control Program, and NFPA 1582, Standard on Medical Requirements for Fire Fighters (all categories).

Committee on Hazardous Chemicals: NFPA 40, Standard for the Storage and Handling of Cellulose Nitrate Motion Picture Film; NFPA 40E, Code for the Storage of Pyroxylin Plastic; NFPA 43D, Code for the Storage of Pesticides; NFPA 430, Code for the Storage of Liquid and Solid Oxidizers; and NFPA 490, Code for the Storage of Ammonium Nitrate (all categories except Special Expert and Manufacturer).

Committee on Professional Qualifications Industrial Fire Brigades (all categories).

Committee on Professional Qualifications Rescue Technicians (all categories except Users).

Committee on Storage of Scrap Tires (all categories).

Committee on Subterranean Spaces: NFPA 520, Standard on Subterranean Spaces (all categories except Users, Special Experts, and Enforcers).

Committee on Wood, Paper, and Cellulosic Dusts: NFPA 664, Standard for the Prevention of Fires and Explosions in Wood Processing and Woodworking Facilities (all categories).

Postage stamp to commemorate anniversary of volunteer firefighting in America

Congressman Michael Forbes (R-NY) has introduced House Concurrent Resolution 24, which would create a postal stamp to mark the 350th anniversary of volunteer firefighting in America.

The National Volunteer Fire Council is asking that members of the fire service contact their senators and representatives to request that they consponsor the measure.
