Firefighters battled a fire at a mattress fire in Toronto, Ontario, that escalated to six-alarms.
Toronto Fire Services responded just after 8:30 a.m. to a factory fire on the city’s north side, according to CBC News. The fire is sending large plumes of black smoke into the sky that can be seen from across the city.
There are concerns about chemicals present in the smoke from the fire. The building is full of stacks of mattresses, made of foam, rubber and other materials.
Crews were fighting the fire defensively; no one is inside the building, which suffered. CTV reported that at least one wall and parts of the roof of the structure have collapsed.
Toronto Fire Services Captain Mike Strapko told reporters that 120 firefighters and 30 fire trucks are on scene.
