Icom America Relocates Headquarters and Celebrates 35 Year Anniversary

Icom America

Icom America recently relocated operations from Bellevue to the city of Kirkland (WA). The radio communications manufacturer consolidated its office and warehouse facilities to one location and now occupies a 72,345-square-foot building on 4 acres. The relocation supports Icom’s expanding business and coincides with the company’s 35th anniversary this year.

“Icom has developed so much over the last ten years,” says Icom America President Hiro Nakaoka. “Our new headquarters now houses every department of our domestic operations while allowing further company expansion. This streamlined approach helps Icom to continue offering the best in communications products to a wide variety of users.”

Icom America’s new location is nestled at the edge of Kirkland at 12421 Willows Road NE. The building overlooks the Sammamish Valley and neighbors several global IT, creative and entrepreneurial entities. Icom’s move to this high-tech corridor aligns with the company’s history of innovation and ongoing technological initiatives.

Icom America was established in 1979 and pioneers two-way radio communications solutions to North American and Latin American markets on behalf of Icom Inc. of Japan. 2014 is a memorial year for both companies: Icom America celebrates its 35th anniversary; Icom celebrates its 50th anniversary. Among Icom’s achievements are IDAS™ and D-STAR, two digital solutions for radio communications.

Currently, the company is designing, engineering and manufacturing equipment that utilizes IP radio technology. This year, Icom will debut an IP Advanced Radio System comprising license-free IP radios, an IP controller and remote communicator. It can be used in conjunction with Icom’s VE-PG3 RoIP gateway to interconnect with IP phones and transceivers. Target markets for this scalable communications solution include, but are not limited to: hospitality, warehouse/manufacturing and retail.
